Objectives: To compare police command systems in Poland and the United Kingdom, and to identify British solutions that could be adapted to the Polish model in order to improve its operational and organisational effectiveness.
Material and methods: The research employed qualitative methods, including expert interviews and analysis of literature on the functioning of command systems during police operations, as well as analysis of operational documents and guidelines regulating the legal basis, organisational structures, command principles and decision-making models operating in Poland and the United Kingdom.
Results: The conclusions from the research indicate that the command systems analysed share numerous functional similarities, but also significant differences resulting from different public law and organisational conditions. The introduction of selected elements of the British model into the Polish command system could contribute to a significant increase in the effectiveness, efficiency and transparency of police operations.
Conclusions: European experience shows that there are various models of police command, and comparing them enables mutual learning and the implementation of best practices from other countries. This article contributes to this process by presenting a comparative analysis of two models and indicating potential directions for their improvement.
