Mass character growth in positive opinion about Stalin and positive technique of Stalin’s repressions are accompanied by lack (misunderstanding) of certain phenomena and events of Stalin’s epoch. Myths and stereotypes in the case described have many social functions, most important of which are legitimization of history, justification of existing social system and mobilizing function. Growing popularity of Stalin is manifestation growth of not only conservative disposition, but also authoritative and repressive tendencies in Russian society.
