Professional activity of the population and the efficiency of enterprises in Poland

Objectives:
Analysis and assessment of the impact of population’s economic activity on the efficiency of enterprises operating in the Polish economy.
Material and methods:
Public statistics resources were used as a source of data acquisition. The research period includes 12 time periods, covering the years 2011-2022. The object of the research were enterprises (public and private sectors) located in Poland. The collected data was developed using basic descriptive statistics. The Pearson correlation analysis allowed to determine and assess the relationship between the professional activity of the population and the economic efficiency of enterprises.
Results:
The study showed that there is a positive relationship between the professional activity rate among working age people and the financial liquidity index of the first degree, as well as the employment rate among the working age people and the share of the number of enterprises showing a net profit in the total number of enterprises. However, they showed a relatively weak degree of the strength of the relationship. The results of the analysis are presented in tabular, graphical and descriptive form.
Conclusions:
It was shown that although the relationships in both cases are not strong, it nevertheless allowed us to identify certain regularities: with the increase in the economic activity rate in the working age group, the financial liquidity ratio of first-degree enterprises in Poland increased, and similarly, vice versa. As the working-age employment rate increased, the percentage of enterprises reporting net profit in the total number of enterprises in the Polish economy increased and vice versa.
