Objectives: The main objective of the author is to attempt to answer the question of whether information, regardless of the type of organizational structure, always plays the same role in decision-making processes. Verification of the affirmative hypothesis led the author to construct models of the impact of the relationship between knowledge, skills, and motivation on decision-making processes.
Material and methods: The author of the article made a systematic comparison of the course of decision-making processes taking place in hierarchical and network organizations and conducted an analysis of the literature on the subject (using the narrative review method) using the methods of synthesis and reduction.
Results: It’s also a sign of the times that existing paradigms seem to leave more questions than answers, both in management science and in science in general. Therefore, in view of these changes, the author has put forward her own proposals for understanding the decision-making process and has developed a cognitive model of this issue, in which she describes the mechanisms of decision-making.
Conclusions: The author’s idea was therefore to take a holistic view of the essence of decisions and the role of information in shaping them. As a result, she also made several recommendations in the article on improving decision-making processes in the face of new structural changes.
