Revisiting the Conceptual Understanding of Development Policy in Developing Countries

Objectives:
Development policy is considered a comprehensive development strategy for developing countries, not only as a plan, but also with aid and several initiatives. This article attempts to define the conceptual understanding of development policy with different dimensions such as theories, policies, institutional approach, developing countries, and their developmental needs.
Material and methods:
Qualitative content analysis is a central method aimed at tracking development discourse in different aspects by academia, institutions and others.
Results:
Concluding remarks highlighted that development policy has evolved after a long effort in social science with special reference to the economics discipline. Development diplomacy is significantly influencing the approach to foreign policy in international relations, aiming to enhance soft power.
Conclusions:
Now, we have sustainable development goals (SDGs), a comprehensive development policy where the donor and receiver are looking for new cooperation.
