ABSTRACT
Objective: The aim of the work is to answer the research question regarding the identification of technical, environmental and behavioral factors that affect the lateral stability of vehicles, and to assess the effectiveness of selected lateral stability support systems in reducing the risk of road accidents. Methods: Based on the analysis of scientific literature, experimental results and computer simulations, a detailed assessment of the impact of vehicle technical parameters, chassis geometry, operation of support systems and road conditions on vehicle behavior during driving was carried out. Results: The state of research in the field of lateral stability of vehicles covers a wide range of analyses and experiments, however, there are still areas that require further research, especially in relation to the integration of stability control systems with drivers' reactions in dynamic road situations. The results to date indicate the importance of parameters such as vehicle mass distribution and center of gravity height, the importance of weather conditions, and the impact of road surface diversity. Discussion: Technological development opens up new possibilities for designing systems that improve safety, which require a thorough assessment of their effectiveness in real road conditions.
